The Beginning

I had my son Jimmy at the very young age of only 17 years old on the 11th of April 1995 via a c-section and instantly, as so many mums do...

How good are water slides! 💦 Jimmy would say, “Whoa, whoa!” all the way down, and as soon as we splashed at the end, he would laugh. I can imagine that being blind would make it feel both scary and fun at the same time. He asked for more, and once he had enough, he let me know. 🩵

I don’t have a fancy reel to showcase the end of last year or the start of this new one. Last year was challenging with bouts of happiness and sometimes tears as I prepared to live a dream that I can give Jimmy and myself. I sacrificed living near the beach and only managed to go freediving about five times. I spent a lot of money on the troopy, but every single day and every dollar spent was worth it.

On the first of January, I woke up, made myself a chai, and let Jimmy sleep in. The only worry I have now is deciding where to book and camp next. It’s just Jimmy, Kiska, and me, with no specific destination in sight—only the road ahead of us. Who knows where it’ll take us? It truly feels like an adventure of a lifetime✌🏽🕊️
